Death metal from the Netherlands

bio

Ghazghkull is the story of a death metal band that traces its roots back to the early 2000s, with the metal outfit Eria d’Or. That band is long gone, and friends drifted apart — as happens. But fate had it that Lennart (guitar), Rutger (drums), and Werner (vocals) found each other again, ready to create unapologetic metal their way. No pretension, pure joy, and a healthy dose of self-mockery. Death metal, with shades of doom and even flashes of black metal, bursting with energy — where everyone joins in the Waaagh!

Waaagh! is the collective mindset of seizing the moment and giving it everything. For Ghazghkull, the Waaagh! is never big enough — it must grow, get louder, get stronger. And to achieve that, the band is willing to go far; no mercy for unicorns or gnomes.

In the second half of 2022, Ghazghkull started writing music and — naturally — searching for a bassist. In 2023, they played several shows in the region (including Heilandfestival and Metalfest Dordrecht), with Frans Swaters (X-tintion) kindly stepping in on bass. In 2024, the hunt for a permanent bassist continued without success, raising the question: do we even need one? Could there be another way? Absolutely. Ghazghkull had already toyed with the idea of using synths — so why not conjure the bass from there as well?

Rutger, Lennart, and Werner decided to move forward as a trio and shift full focus to recording their debut album. Old songs were reshaped, new ones forged, and the sessions scheduled. In early 2025, the first album was recorded, with Ben de Graaff (ex-Sepiroth) joining the effort. On October 3rd, during Metalfest Dordrecht, the album will be unveiled — and the time will come to unleash the Waaagh! on an even greater scale.

Waaagh! for all, all for Waaagh!
